Isuzu Malaysia Q1 sales surge, thanks to the D-Max
Its Isuzu D-Max pick-up recorded sales of 607 units up to last March, a 100 per cent increase over its 302 units sold in the same period in 2006, underlining the growing popularity of the pick-up truck especially in the Sabah and Sarawak market.
"Isuzu's strong performance and steady sales in the first quarter have elevated the company to second position in East Malaysia with a market share of 21.6 per cent and third nationwide in the pick-up category with a market share of 13.3 per cent," said its chief executive officer Kyoya Kondo.
He said in a statement that the key factor for Isuzu D-Max's sales growth is its core features that include fuel efficiency, durability, comfort, good looks and performance.
Top selling variants of the D-Max last year have been the 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre manual versions representing 76.6 per cent of its sales.
