Kumho Tyres to open its fourth plant in China
Kumho Tyres will construct it fourth plant in Nanjing China following three established ones in Tienjin, Changchoon and Nanjing to meet the increasing demands for passenger vehicles and trucks tires from the Chinese market.
Built on a land of more than 90,000 square meters with an investment of $99 million, the new plant with an annual production capacity of 300,000 units of tires is to be completed in the second half of 2008. Kumho Tires will equip the new plant with the most up-to-date facilities that can produce high-performance tires.
Sae-chul Oh, CEO of Kumho Tires, told reporters that the company has already set up an R&D center in China last year which will help the company's expansion in China. Kumho Tyres' overall productions at home and abroad will reach 64 million by the second half year of 2008, by then the company may be able to become one of mainstream tire producers world wide.
