Argentina Socma Group: plans to make Chery Auto's in '08
Argentina Socma group recently disclosed that the company plans starting local production and marketing of a whole range of Chery models in Argentina in 2008.
Argentina Socma group signed a contract with China Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. in Uruguay last November to establish a joint venture for the production of two models which will be launched in the Latin American market: luxury SUV model TIGGO and compact model QQ.
It is reported that the joint venture, which plans to produce 25,000 Chery Automobile units, will launch its products in the Latin American market from August this year.
The report said that if the Uruguay production goes on well, Chery said it is possible to invest and set up factories in Argentina to expand its production capacity.
