Pickup sales figures unveiled for the first four months

Statistics from China Automotive Industry Association unveiled that registered pickup sales in China were 52,612 units in the first four months. Great Wall reported best sales of 13944, representing 27% of the total; market share of Zhongxing Auto, Zhengzhou Nissan Auto, Jiangling Motor and Beiqi Foton Motor were 19.1%, 16%, 14% and .7%, respectively.

Great Wall pickups has been holding the No 1 spot for the ninth consecutive year as of 1998. Insiders say in China,pickup sales have seen big growth momentum in recent years as the product becomes more technology-oriented and upscale. However, the high-end pickup market has always been occupied by foreign JVs while home grown auto makers only lead the mid-low range market segment.
