Chang'an hybrid auto to be mass produced '08
"In 2010, auto sales will reach 2 million units, self developed sedans with independent intellectual property rights accounted for more than 60%." Said Xu Liuping, general manager of Chang'an Automobile, at a news conference held on May 21.
In China's automobile enterprises, Changan is the second auto enterprise to announce a target figure of 2 million units by 2010; FAW Group had made the same announcement few months earlier.
Included the production line, Chang'an will build 12 platforms, of which 5 platforms are for mini-cars.
"Changan has been developing hybrid power technology as an important task, Changan hybrid production will be available in 2008. According to development progress, Chang'an hydrogen products may be completed at around 2015." Xu said.
Chang'an Hybrid development will take two steps: the first step is to save more than 20% on gas usage and reduce cost 20%, the research will be put into operation next year. The second step is to achieve the target of saving 40% gas usage.
Changan's hydrogen fuel engine has been in development for three years, it is relying on the entire fuel supply and utility construction.
