Internal-combustion capacity aims at 17m by 2010

Recently, industry research division of mechanical industry info center analyzed and made an outlook on China internal-combustion engine development in the coming 5 years.The research team foretold that the outcome and growth rate would increase by 10% year on year. The annual capacity of single-cylinder diesel engine would be between 6—7 million units and 4.2 million units of multi-cylinder diesel and petroleum engine (including substitute-fuel engine) and 5,79 million units of multi-cylinder petroleum engine (including substitute-fuel and hybrid engines). Totally up to 17 million units.

The focus of engine enterprises would cover following items: new single-cylinder diesel engine, small general engine, the diesel engine for truck, bus and sedan and petroleum engine for new cars including SUV and MPV meeting E III and E IV emission limits, substitute-fuel engine (compressed natural gas, liquid natural gas, ethanol and so on) and hybrid engine for large- and medium-size bus.

They will also pay great attention to the research of engine parts, electrically controlled injecting pump, electrically controlled high-pressure injection system, electrically controlled high-pressure pump, injector and combustion engine parts meeting E III or E IV emission limits. The high-power diesel engine for medium- and low-speed ships and after-emission system will also be focused on.

The research center said that it's certain that following technologies would be developed in priority by enterprises influenced by market and government regulations: electrically controlled high-pressure pump, electrically controlled common rail system, electrically controlled single pump and high-pressure injection technologies including the study of fuel features, direct injection technologies of petrol engine consisting of air flow study, combustion chamber design, as well as the study of variable venture, VVT, variable A/F system, variable compression ratio, VNT, centre-cooling system, after-emission system, electrically controlled combustion engine technology, integrated process system, hybrid engine design technology, recycling technology and EMC technology and so on.
