Benz sales rose 34% YTD
Mercedes-Benz China Ltd said sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles soared 23 percent to 11,200 units on the Chinese mainland and in Hong Kong in the first five months of the year. It is also noteworthy that sales on the Chinese mainland alone went up by 34% y-o-y.
Sales of Mercedes-Benz brand in Northeast Asia were 15,500 vehicles, with the Chinese market accounting for 72% of the total, according to Daimler Chrysler's Mercedes Car Group.
Klaus Maier, President of Mercedes-Benz China, said sales growth in China was led by sustained strong demand for the S-class models, positive market response to the sports utility vehicles and the new generation of E-class models that rolled off the assembly in the Beijing plant at the beginning of this year.
The company said sale of its S-class models in China exceeded 4,270 units in the first five months, of which the mainland saw an increase of 44% y-o-y.
