FAW_VW to build its own-brand car

It is reported that, FAW_VW will build its own brand car.

Earlier FAW_VW said that it will produce its own brand car based on the Jetta platform, with the aim of taking up a larger share in the locally-made vehicle category. News from last week revealed that the Group has decided to abort the initial plan and switch to the Bora PQ34 platform instead.

"Currently most of the local models are priced at 80,000 yuan, Given FAW's strong brand name and industry expertise, launching its own vehicle, based on the Jetta platform, at a low price will definitely give FAW a competitive advantage." an auto designer from FAW Group said earlier.

However not all share the same view. Insiders are also skeptical about competing with VW Jetta, given its strong existing brand name. From this perspective, the PQ34 platform is said to be more competitive.

The launch of the new FAW_VW model, originally scheduled to be launched by beginning of next year, will be delayed to the end of next year.
