Camry targeting annual sales of 160,000 units
Guangzhou Toyota Motor Co. Ltd celebrated Camry's one year anniversary in its Nansha plant last week. During the celebration, GTMC has expressed their hope to produce Highlander, which will be imported starting next month, in China next year
Sources from GTMC said that Toyota (Guangzhou) has decided to sell 160,000 units Camry by the end of this year. If the goal is realized, Camry will be the first mid-high range model to reach the 150,000-unit milestone in China.
May this year, Camry has topped the charts of mid-high range vehicle for the sixth consecutive year.
Sales of Camry in the first five months reached a total of 66,299 units.
Preparation is currently underway to launch the new Highlander, scheduled to be launched latest by July this year. It is predicted their prices will be higher than Camry.
This imported completely built-up (CBU) model is equipped with the same engine as Camry: 2.0L and 2.4L and will be distributed via 140 Toyota dealers nationwide.
