China car electronics market on the upswing

From EE Times Asia| June 27 , 2007 17:01 BJT

Driven by the fast-growing automotive industry, China's car electronics market continued to maintain its growth momentum in 2006. For the said period, automotive electronics sales revenues reached $11.3 billion, up by almost 40 percent y-on-y, according to CCID Consulting.

Foreign enterprises' product capacity shift to China and the rapid rise of local automotive electronics firms were the two most influential factors for the fast growth of China's automotive electronics industry, the research firm said.

Currently, local automotive electronics firms have covered their products in almost all automotive electronics fields. These firms performed particularly well in on-board electronics, as well as in automotive sound systems and portal in-board GPS products.

Li Shuchong, an analyst with CCID Consulting, believes that in the next few years, China's advantages in automotive electronics manufacturing will be put into further play. As technology continues to mature, such advantages will gradually expand from on-board electronics to vehicle body electronics and even the power and chassis control field.
