China auto sales accounts for 12 percent of global sales
Shanghai. August 27 (Gasgoo.com) - The sales of China autos this year will reach 8.3 million units, accounting for 12 percent of the global sales and by 2015 China may overtake the United States, becoming the biggest auto market in the world, an official from National Information Center (NIC) said yesterday.
According to the NIC prediction, China’s total vehicles output this year will reach 8.6 units, of which 8.3 million units will be sold in China’s home market and 0.52 million units will be exported to other countries. At the same time, China will import 0.22 million units this year.
China became the third largest auto market in 2003 from the seventh largest in 2001. Last year, China overtook Japan to become world second largest auto market.
The average displacement of engines increased to 1.68 L, up 0.15 L within a year.
The average petrol consumption increased 5 percent, close to the consumption standard in developed countries.
In the first half of this year, China spent 7 billion yuan ($0.93 billion) in engines and spare parts imports.
