Ford Motor allies auto parts enterprises

Recently Ford Motor signed letter of intent with a magnesium alloy steering manufacturer to establish R&D center of magnesium alloy automobile parts and accessories such as steering wheel for Ford.

Last year, the parts manufacturer and Shanghai GM signed a supply agreement of 80,000 magnesium alloy steering wheel, and officially supplied since July last year. After several rounds of negotiations, the magnesium alloy enterprise signed a joint research agreement with Ford. Ford Motor will be a cooperative partner in the establishment of a complete auto parts magnesium alloy production line, including die-casting, machining and surface treatment.

Magnesium alloy has excellent resistance performance to oscillation, which is widely used in luxury car manufacturing. According to the National Car Testing Center report, the level of impact power should not to be more than 11123N. But in a number of indicators, magnesium alloy reaches only half or two-thirds of the national standard and the Performance are far better than steering made of steel or aluminum alloy materials. Collaborated with auto parts enterprises in China, the research and development center can lay the foundation and help to build low-cost and high quality magnesium alloy automobile parts.
