Zhengzhou Nissan's two new models to hit market

Zhengzhou Nissan, with 51 percent stakes controlled by Dongfeng Automobile Co, manufacture Nissan's pickups as well as SUVs like Paladin. The Zhengzhou-based Sino-Japanese joint venture had seen a profit of more than 100 million yuan ($13.2 million) earlier in 2002, but shortly after that the company experienced a profit slide largely due to fuel-emissions regulations made by government.

"We have realized the importance of developing our own brand vehicles and widening product lineup," said Guo Zhenpu, Ggeneral manager of Zhengzhou Nissan. "Ruiqi, Aoding and Xuyi are part of our efforts to achieve these goals."

But he denied the company has plans to make sedans in the near future.

Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (DFL), the parent company of Dongfeng Automobile Co, has promised to make Zhengzhou Nissan a light commercial vehicle production base by injecting heavy investments in the near future.
