Chery sees biggest sales increase in Russia

Shanghai. September 14 (Gasgoo.com) - Sales of foreign cars in Russia for January-August went up 66% year on year to 1.502 million units and China’s Chery showed the biggest increase in sales in the market, the Automobile Manufacturers Committee of the Association of European Businesses in Russia announced.

Chery saw it sales increase by 580% to 24,000 units in the first eight months. It was followed by Dodge with an increase of 310% to 1662 in sales, the announcement said.

In terms of brand, Chevrolet was the leader with 114,964 cars sold, followed by last year's leader, Ford, with sales of 105,858 and Toyota finishing up third with 99,503 in sales.

The Ford Focus continued to be the most popular foreign model with sales of 59,500. It was followed by the Renault Logan, which sold 42,400 and the Chevrolet Lanos with 37,316 in sales.
