Audi plans to sell 200,000 vehicles in Chinese market by 2015
Shanghai. October 9 (Gasgoo.com) Audi plans to raise its sales target in Chinese market from the current 82,000 units to 200,000 by 2010, the company's chief marketing officer, Ralph Weyler said yesterday.
Weyler's plan is based on rapid growth of Audi's presence in Chinese market over the last two years. In the first half of 2007, Audi sold 48,716 vehicles in Chinese market, up 27 percent from one year earlier.
It is reported that Audi is planning to upgrade its Audi A4 next year in order to take back its luxury car status.
BMW, Audi's competitor in Chinese market, is also seeking to increase its market share in China. Frank-Peter Arndt, BMW's senior production official said his company is seeking to further expand its output capacity with its Chinese partner, Brilliance Auto.
BWM is also considering the possibility of establishing partnership with another Chinese automaker and of starting another plant in China, Frank-Peter Arndt said.
