ChangAn Ford Mazda Automobile Corp.

ChangAn Ford Automobile Corp. was founded jointly by ChangAn Automobile Group and Ford Automobile Corp., two worldwide car leaders, on April 25, 2001.

ChangAn Ford is located in the new zone in the north of Chongqing. The plant's main buildings include a car body workshop, a painting workshop, an assembly workshop, a technical & development center and an administrative building.

The Chinese government holds high expectations for ChangAn Ford and its products. As a sign of their support, numerous national leaders have inspected and spoken highly of the company, including Jintao Hu, general secretary and chairman of the Central Committee of Chinese Communist Party, Peng Li, chief of the People's Congress, Qichen Li, vice Premier, and Guangsheng Shi, minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.

On January 18, 2003, ChangAn Ford's first model, the Fiesta, rolled off the assembly line. Peng Li, chief of the People's Congress, attended the ceremony and personally unveiled the new car and left his autograph.

In March, 2006, Mazda invested into Changan Ford. The restructured company has been renamed as Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. (CFMA). Changan, Ford and Mazda hold 50 percent, 35 percent and 15 percent shares in CFMA, respectively. The production capacity of plant in Chongqing of Changan Ford Mazda is so far 200,000 units. The new plant in Nanjing of Changan Ford which is currently under construction is expected to reach annual output of 160,000 units in 2007.
