Guangzhou Auto to display its own brand next month
Shanghai. October 30 (Gasgoo.com) - Guangzhou Automobile Group, one of Honda's two partners in China, will showcase its own brand vehicles at next month's Guangzhou Motor Show, China Business News Reported today.
The model, in the range of 2.0 to 2.5 liter mid-high sedan segment, is reportedly designed by an Italian auto designer. The car will be built at a plant in Panyu, about one hundred miles to the north of Guangzhou. Volume production will start by the mid-2009.
Insiders say many vehicles made by Guangzhou Honda have borrowed technologies from 07 Honda Accord.
Currently, all Honda brands made by Guangzhou Honda, such as Accord, Fit, Odyssey, and City, are developed Honda Motors. But this situation will change as Guangzhou Auto is pumping more investments into the joint-venture to develop its own brands.
