Shanghai, November 8, (Gasgoo.com)-Honda Odyssey ranks highest in the minivan segment for four consecutive years in China, according to the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2007 China Initial Quality Study (IQS).
The new Odyssey got a record 92 points for PP100 (problems experienced per 100 vehicles), an index designed to judge the overall performance of a car, --lower scores means lower rate of problem incidences and higher quality. The seven-seater is upgraded on the 2005 model and scores a five-star rating in the crash test conducted by C-NCAP.
Odyssey is equipped with Honda's "Safety for Everyone" system includes anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability assisted with traction control, air bags in front of and next to the driver and front-seat passenger and side-curtain air bags covering all rows.
During the first three quarters, Guangzhou Honda, the joint venture between Honda and Guangzhou Motor Group sold 32,223 Odyssey vehicles, up 21% from the previous year, making it the best-selling minivan brand in Chinese market.
The table below shows performance of several models from Guangzhou Honda.
The study captures problems experienced by new-vehicle owners within the first two to six months of ownership. Vehicle problems are examined in two distinct categories—quality of design and quality of production (defects and malfunctions)—and across eight factors: vehicle exterior; driving experience; features, controls and displays; audio, entertainment and navigation; seats; heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC); vehicle interior; and engine and transmission. Overall performance is determined by problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100).
