Audi consolidates leading position in China's luxury vehicle market

Shanghai. November 13 (Gasgoo.com) - Volkswagen's premium brand Audi has further consolidated its leading position in Chinese luxury vehicle market by selling 82,868 vehicles in the first ten months of the year, an increase of 25 percent from one year earlier, Chinese Business News reported today.

"Audi's growth is exceptionally strong in all segments of market," An Shihao, General Manager of FAW-Volkswagen Audi Sales Department, told China Business News today.

Audi A6 remained the most popular government-use luxury vehicle in China, while Audi A4 also made a big contribution by selling 15,000 units in first ten months, up 40 percent year on year.

In addition, Audi sold a total of 6,500 vehicles in imported units within the first ten months of the year, and its TT sport car leads the sales among the same range market segment.

Earlier the company unveiled plans to raise its sales target in Chinese market from the current 82,000 units to 200,000 by 2010, the company's chief marketing officer, Ralph Weyler said.

Currently Audi has 120 franchised stores in Chinese market and the company plans to expand the total number to 170 in the next two or three years, said the general manager of FAW-VW Audi Sales Division.
