Shanghai. November 15 (Gasgoo.com) - Following 30 percent carbon dioxide emission cut over the past decade, Audi plans to further reduce its vehicle emissions by 20 percent in Chinese market by 2012, a senior Audi official said.

"Audi has launched a so called "green energy" program, which will enable vehicles produced by Audi to emit 20 percent less CO2 than the current level by 2012," said An Shihao, General Manager of FAW-Volkswagen Audi Sales Department.

He said the automaker may also introduce a 2.8L and a 2.0L FSI engine to the Chinese market, of which the 2.8L FSI to be equipped on the Audi A6 will be able to improve fuel efficiency by some 12 percent.

Audi has further consolidated its leading position in Chinese luxury vehicle market by selling 83,863 vehicles in the first ten months of the year, an increase of 25.9 percent from one year earlier.

Ralph Weyler, head of Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG said in Germany that he expected to sell over 100,000 vehicles in Chinese market this year.
