Tesla’s Charging Equipment Will Adapt to New National Standards in China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Jan 15th)Reporters learned from Tesla yesterday that it promised to achieve 100% compatibility between the products and the new standards.

In reaction to the new policy, Tesla has conducted several projects;with renovation of current models being the first, which has been scheduled by Tesla R&D Center, located in the U.S. headquarter. To meet Chinese automobile owners’ charging needs, Tesla has developed charging-conversion equipment that can be plugged in power. In the meantime, Tesla has planned for renovation of the current charging equipment to meet the new national standards as soon as possible.

Gao Xiang, Director of Tesla China’s Public Policy and Charging Infrastructure answered for the increasing concern about whether Tesla would share charging equipment with other brands. He said that under communication agreements, it’s quite possible to charge for Tesla with different charging posts stipulated by the new standards. Although the business model cannot be determined, it can be predicted that we will see more cooperation than competition in the future.
