China’s FAW Toyota Only Aims to Sell 620,000 Units in 2016

Gasgoo .com ( Shanghai, March 1) — FAW Toyota in China sets a goal to achieve sales of 620,000 units in 2016, a slight increase compared to the sales of 610,000 units in 2015.

Overall, slowing development of China’s auto market can tell why automakers take cautious step this year. In addition, an insider explained that FAW Toyota would focus on constructing internal system rather than pursue larger sales this year.

Statistics show that the total sales of FAW Toyota in 2015 reached 617,800 units, which is more than the targeted sales of 610,000 units set in the beginning of 2015. And the market share also increased to 4.7% from 4.4%.

In January of this year, with monthly sales of 60,247 units and a yearly increase of more than 20%, it seemed that FAW Toyota had maintained the rising momentum. However, the insider admitted that, apart from sales made by the dual-engine Carola which was brought to market in December of 2015, sales of other models actually showed downward trends.

Therefore, FAW Toyota will continue its strategy to develop small vehicles appealing to young generation and built stronger distribution network in north China. It will jointly work with franchisers to strengthen the construction of internal system.

FAW Toyota will bring to market four models including modified Land Cruiser, new RAV4, new Vios and 1.2T Carola in 2016. Besides, it will also upgrade distribution channels, set new business standard, optimize income structure and improve working efficiency.
