Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 17th)– FuQiang, President and CEO of Volvo Cars (China) has left his position at this carmaker, due to personal career choice, and Yuan Xiaolin, President of Volvo Cars (Asia-Pacific) will be temporarily take charge of this company until further assignment, announced by Volvo in May 16th.

Mr. Fu Qiang has joined Volvo Cars in May 2012, in charge of marketing, sales, network and afersales services, led Volvo achieving significant growth in 2013 and 2014, and went through a relatively difficult time in 2015.

It’s believed Fu Qiang will join in the army of entrepreneurs or jump into the wave of car-building by Internet companies, led by LeTV and NextEV. Either way, with 20 years of marketing experience in automobile industry, there is nothing but a promising future ahead of this Volvo veteran.

But the problem is what about the future of Volvo? Reportedly, Volvo aims at a 30% sales growth in 2016, compared against last year, which could be quite challenging for this carmaker considering its slowing down growth.

After the initial adjustment when acquired by Chinese domestic carmaker Geely in 2012, Volvo has entered into a fast-growing phase, boosted by three all new series-60 models, and its brand recognition has also improved significantly in China.

Later in the year of 2013, boosted by the growing sales of its XC 60 and S60L, Volvo actually stood a chance to compete with traditional luxury brands led by Audi, BMW and Benz in Chinese market. But it sales has slowed down when this carmaker failed to reach its 100,000 sales target in 2015. According to a source familiar with the matter, Volvo’s currently promotion-dependent sales strategy has brought dangerously high risk and pressure to the company.

It’s believed Volvo could grow itself in a healthy way, should it readjust its sales goal in accordance with its product to market plans.
