The sales of luxury brands in China for the first 4 months this year
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 25th)– According to Internet Information Agency, besides domestic and JV brands, most luxury auto brands in Chinese market, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, have also back on the fast track of sales growth again in the first 4 months of 2016, compared against the same period of 2015.
Among all the Top 8 luxury brands in China, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, JLR, Volvo, Cadillac, Lexus and Infinite, the sales of most of them for the first 4 months of 2016 have outgrew that of the same period of 2015. Please see the chart below for detail information:
We can see the sales of Mercedes-Benz(including Smart) totaled 147,907 units for the first 4 months of 2016, up by an astonishing 40.5% against the same period of 2015. Boosted by its GLC, CLA and C Class sedans, the sales of this Germany brand has been soaring successively for the last 36 months in China, which also made China exceeded US to be its biggest market.
After a relatively weak 2015, the sales of BMW(including MINI) has been warming up in China. This Germany carmaker sold 162,221 cars in Chinese market for the first 4 months of 2016, up by 6.0% against last year.
Audi, also one of ABB brands, sold 188,906 cars in China for the 4 months of 2016, up by 5.8%.
For the Japanese brands, the sales of Lexus stood at 32,509 units, up by 40.1% against last year, boosted by its ES, NX and RX. To be more specific, the sales of its ES totaled 9,400 units, accounting 44% of the company’s total sales.
The sales of Infinite stood at 11,310 units for the first 4 months of 2016, down by 2.9% against last year. The sales of its star product Q50L only stood at 433 units, down by 74%, while the sales of its another star product QX50 only totaled 150 units, down by 82.4%.
For American brands, Cadillac totaled 27,698 sales for the first 4 months of 2016, up by 9.2%. The growth of this American brand has slowed down by 9.1%. To be more specific, the sales of Cadillac XTS stood at 2,690 units in this April, up by 112.5%, and that of its Cadillac ATS-L accounted 2,258 units, up by 8.4%. Besides, the sales of the newly debuted XT5 totaled 1,863 units in this April.
For the first 4 months of 2016, the sales of JLR has soared 16.6% at 37,099 units against last year, boosted by its domestic produced Discovery and Evoque.
To be noted, Volvo only sold 23,922 new cars for the first 4 months of 2016 in China, down by 0.5%.
