Roewe RX5 equips with YunOS, SAIC and Alibaba cooperating to develop connected cars

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 12^th)–SAIC and Alibaba jointly released their first cooperative product Roewe RX5 in Hangzhou on July, 6th. Wang Jian, Chairman of Alibaba Group’s Technology Commission said, “We take two years’ time to produce the first real connected car.” When RX5 finally embraces its official release, the society all concerns what is connected car and what significance will it bring to the Internet and auto industry.

“The birth of connected car is a milestone. The Internet industry embraces a new member of auto, after PC and mobile phones.” Wang Jian said. “Different from traditional vehicles, connected cars can produce resources and data. Driven by data, cars will be more intelligent and bring more advances to auto design and social infrastructure.”

In some senses, the greatest change brought by Internet to auto industry is that cars are connected to everything and turn from a single product to an open platform, from where auto Internet will bring more possibilities.

However, auto manufacturing procedures will not be overturned by Internet. Under any circumstances, customers are seeking for safety and quality. Therefore, Internet companies have no advantages in producing vehicles.
