Skoda to produce 100,000 vehicles in China by 2010

Shanghai. December 10 (Gasgoo.com) – Skoda Auto, the Czech unit of Volkswagen, said it would produce 100,000 vehicles in China as its compact car model Fabia and Superb are ready to hit Chinese market next year, Shanghai Securities News reported today.
 
"Skoda's market presence in China is still very limited, but we will improve this situation by introducing more models," said Fu Qiang, director of Škoda Marketing & Sales Business of Shanghai VW.
 
Skoda started to produce and sell Octavia in Chinese market in June this year. In October, 4,111 locally produced Octavia vehicles were sold. Moreover, Octavia won five-star in a recent car crash test (C-NA CP) with a total score of 45 points.
 
Local Chinese media reported earlier that Skoda Fabia will be introduced to Chinese market by the second half of 2008, and other Skoda vehicles including an Octavia RS model and a SUV model will come to Chinese market along with Fabia.
 
Earlier reports said Skoda had sold approximately 20,000 vehicles in the first ten months in China this year. Globally, the Company has already sold 516,267 vehicles during the same period, up 12.9% compared with the same period last year.
