Chery signs auto exports contract with South African company
Shanghai. December 12 (Gasgoo.com) – Chinese automaker Chery has signed an auto export contract with a South African trading company, McCarthy, in Wuhu of Anhui province last week, Chery said in a press release.
Under the contract, McCarthy will act as an agent to promote Chery’s automobile sales, after-market service and brand awareness in South Africa. It is expected that Chery’s automobile will hit South African market by April 2008 and the company will export 5,000 vehicles to South Africa by the end of 2008.
"This is a landmark agreement,” said Yin Tongyao, “McCarthy has many years of car sales experiences and a strong dealership network. I believe McCarthy can help Chery not only gain a strong footing in South Africa and but also explore African and European markets.”
McCarthy is the second largest automobile sales company in South Africa. The company has about 130 auto dealers throughout the country. Its clients include Audi, BMW, Volvo and others.
Last month Chery signed a bullet-proof vehicle export contract with South African company SATEH AFRIQUE earlier this month.
Under the contract, Chery will supply 200 bullet-proof vehicles to SATEH AFRIQUE. Prior to this contract, Chery sold a batch of Oriental Son bulletproof vehicles to Brazil in September this year.
Currently Chery produces a bullet-proof sedan called Oriental Son and a bullet-proof SUV called Tiggo. The two models entered Brazilian and Syrian markets earlier this year.
As China’s leading automobile exporter, Chery has exported 114,700 vehicles to overseas markets in the first 11 months this year, up 164.7 percent from one year earlier.
