Honda CR-V named "2008 SUV of the Year" by Chinese magazine
Shanghai, December 17, (Gasgoo.com)-Honda CR-V, the best-selling model in China’s SUV market in November, is named as "2008 SUV of the Year China" by a Chinese auto magazine.
The revamped Honda CR-V, hitting the market this April, was awarded as "2008 SUV of the Year China" by a Chinese automobile magazine called Motortrend. The evaluation team, composed of industry experts, conducted a one-month-and-half evaluation that covers ten aspects ranging from safety to design to road test.
The CR-V achieved the highest rating among three other candidate SUV models (Chery Tiggo, Great Wall Hover and Hyundai Tuscon). The model provides spacious five-passenger seating in a versatile crossover SUV package with sedan-like handling.
In November, Honda CR-V unseated Great Wall Hover from the best seller in Chinese SUV market. The November sales of top five best selling SUV models in Chinese market are Honda CR-V (5554 units), Chery Tiggo(5257 units), Great Wall Hover(4479 units), Hyundai Tuscon(3990 units), and Changfeng Liebao(2285 units). These five models account for 59 percent of the total SUV market.
In the first 11 month of the year, 339,800 SUV were sold in the Chinese market, up 60.3 percent from the previous year. The growth is much faster than any other segment like sedans and minivans.
