Geely to sell 200,000 vehicles in Russia in next five years

Shanghai. December 19 (Gasgoo.com) – Chinese privately-owned automaker Geely will export 200,000 completely built vehicles to Russia market in the five year, Chinese media reported today.

Last month, Geely signed a $1.5 billion car sales agreement the company with the Rolf Group of Moscow, the report said. Under the agreement, Geely will export Geely King Kong and Vision models to Russia market beginning next year.

Geely official said his company’s King Kong model has passed all Russian certifications earlier this month, including EU-III emission standards. Geely plans to double overseas sales to 20,000 cars this year, from about 10,000 in 2006.

Geely, China’s largest privately-owned automaker, sold 165,992 vehicles in Chinese market in the first 11 months, up 12.6 percent from one year earlier.

Its best selling model, Free Cruiser, sold 73,435 units in the first 11 months, up 23.6 percent from one year earlier; while its King Kong model sold 40,364 units in the same period, up 233.8 percent from one year earlier.
