Shanghai. December 20 (Gasgoo.com) – Guangzhou Toyota has raised its annual sales target to 170,000 units, and the buoyant sales of Camry will inevitably challenge the company’s output capacity, Shanghai Securities News reported today.

"Camry sales this year will surpass our projected target of 167,000 units, but we only have an output capacity of 200,000 units,” said Feng Xingya, deputy manager of Guangzhou Toyota. “The buoyant sales of Camry coupled with the launch of new Yaris will definitely challenge our current output capacity.”

Last month, the company announced that its compact sedan Yaris will be locally produced in Guangzhou by the middle of next year.

The compact hatchback to be produced in Guangzhou next year will come in two versions based on different displacement: a 1.3L engine and a 1.5L engine. And the model will be priced at a range of 60,000 yuan to 80,000 yuan ($8,000-$10,000).

In the first 11 months this year, Guangzhou Camry sold 149,972 vehicles, up 223.5 percent from one year earlier. In November alone, Camry sold 13,062 units, holding its No.1 position in the upper and middle sedan segment, surpassing Honda’s Accord by 20 percent and VW’s Passat by 24 percent.
