Shanghai. December 21. (Gasgoo.com) Ford Motor (China) has denied earlier reports saying that Ford planned to open its fourth plant in China in order to boost capacity.

"The media have got us wrong. It's too presumptuous in reporting that Ford is planning on another plant. What we said is that all options are being considered,” said Ford’s PR official. "Ford is still in negotiations with possible partners about possible ways of expanding capacity."

Earlier this month Ford spokesman Kenneth Hsu said, "Ford is weighing all options with its partners to find a way to meet increasing demand there", but he didn't say what the options were being considered.

Currently Ford's passenger-car joint venture, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile, has expanded its production capacity to 250,000 units this year. The joint venture coupled with a newly opened plant in Nanjing will give Ford a total capacity of more than 400,000 units in Chinese market.

In the first eleven months of this year, Changan Ford Mazda sold 190,831 passenger vehicles in China, up 0.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
