Opel Austria powertrain GMBH
More than 1.7 billion euros has been invested in the Opel Austria Powertrain engine and transmission facility in Vienna-Aspern since its establishment in 1982. Another 300 million euros have been added through a bulk order in March 2002.
Opel Austria Powertrain’s 2,300 employees produce around 1,000,000 powertrains per year, along with 500,000 environmentally friendly and fuelefficient three and four-cylinder engines and around 300,000 cylinder heads.
About every other new Opel worldwide has an engine and/or a transmission produced in Vienna/Aspern. In total, 22 million aggregates – specifically 12 million powertrains, 7.3 million engines and 2.4 million four-valve cylinder heads – have been produced in Vienna, all for export. Starting in 2004, Opel Austria Powertrain will produce additional 80,000 aggregates of the types M20 and M28. These transmissions are suitable for engines from 2.200 liter cubic capacity and will be fitted into all cars of the GM and Fiat concerns: Opel, Saab, Vauxhall, Fiat, Alfa-Romeo and Lancia.
