Shanghai. January 8 (Gasgoo.com) – Dodge Avenger will go on sale in China later this month, Chinese auto website Cheshi.com reported today.

The imported model will be sold at about 200,000 yuan ($27,496) in China, while currently it is sold from $18,590 to $25,270 in the U.S. market.

Following Avenger, Dodge Caliber will also be introduced in the first quarter of this year at higher price.

Chrysler is also planning to import dozens of Dodge Viper sport cars to China to gauge market response. The model will be priced higher than 1 million yuan ($137,482).

China's Soueast Auto just started to produce Dodge Caravan, a minivan, two months ago. Chrysler sold a total of 176,041 Caravans in America and 232,000 units globally in 2007, which is the top selling model in the U.S. minivan segment and the second best-selling internationally.

Chrysler LLC yesterday reported it sold 238,218 vehicles outside North America in 2007, up 15 percent over 2006 figure. Still, international sales represent only 9 percent of the company's business.
