Recently, Zhongxing Changchun sedan project was formally announced at Zhongxing Auto Business Conference in 2007. It is reported that Zhongxing Automobile will build a unitary frame construction base with an annual output of 200,000 unites in Changchun in 2008, which will mainly manufacture sedans and cross passenger car, now product design work has been completed, development work is ongoing, and a total investment of 2.53 billion yuan was injected in the project. It is expected that Zhongxing sedan will be exported to the United States in 2009.

Xiao Wei, general manager of Zhongxing Automobile Company, said:" Changchun base is Zhongxing Changlin branches, Strictly speaking, it should not be called sedan manufacture base. In terms of relevant national stipulation, it should be called unitary frame construction manufacture base."

Unitary frame construction lacks rigidness body, and is used in sedan and MPV, while SUV and pickup are body chassis frame construction structure. In fact, Zhongxing Changlin branches’ production are based on sedan series, however Xiao Wei is unwilling to call it a sedan base.

Zhongxing signed a cooperation agreement with Changchun Changlin Group last April, with a total investment of 630 million yuan. In September, the two sides signed a framework agreement on cooperation in automobile production. It is reported that a total investment of second phase project was 1.9 billion yuan, and it planed to build a base with an annual output of 200,000 unitary frame construction vehicles in 2008. This year, Zhongxing will put two pickup series into production in Changchun to expand production lines.
