Shanghai. January 11 (Gasgoo.com) – Land Rover, world premium SUV brand, sold 6,573 SUV vehicles in Chinese market last year, up 143 percent from one year earlier, the company announced on its official web today.
In the last three months of 2007, Land Rover sold 2,287 vehicles, up 291 percent from the same period a year earlier. In December alone, Land Rover sold 1,034 vehicles, up 439 percent from the same month one year earlier.
"We’ve sold more cars than expects in 2007,” said Christopher Brown, the general manager of Jaguar and Land Rover China. “We will carry that momentum to 2008.”
Jaguar and Land Rover has recently opened dealerships in Tianjing and Chongqing, Brown said. “We will have more places to display our cars.”
Land Rover has sold 2,318 Freelander II vehicles since the model was launched in Chinese market in April of 2007, the company announcement said.
China has become the Land Rover and Jaguar’s eighth largest market in the world, the company said.
