Shanghai. January 17 (Gasgoo.com) – Changan Motor Group, China’s fourth largest automaker group aims to sell one million vehicles in 2008, senior company official said.
Xu Liuping, president of ChangAn Automobile Group, unveiled his 2008 sales target at a recent dealership conference.
The group sold 850,000 vehicles in 2007, up over 20 percent from last year and its sales revenue has exceeded 57.4 billion yuan (7.851 billion in U.S. dollars) in 2007, up 24.5 percent from one year earlier, Xu told the conference.
"In the next three years, Changan Group will build seven platforms for local brand sedans, five platform for mini-cars and three engine production platforms,” Xu said at the conference. “We are planning to launch 36 local brand cars and 12 engines in three years.”
The Chongqing-based automaker is China’s largest compact cars and small displacement engine maker. Its products lineups cover all segments of compact cars, sedans, SUV, MPV and commercial vehicles.
ChangAn Group has a joint venture company with Ford Motor Co and Mazda Motor in Chongqing, where Ford vehicles, including Focus, Festiva, Mondeo, Volvo S40, Mazda 3 are produced.
The automaker also has a partnership company with Japanese automaker Suzuki in Chongqing, where four Suzuki model are produced.
