Shanghai, January 18, (Gasgoo.com)-The Italian luxury sports car maker Ferrari sold 177 vehicles in China last year, 27 units more than its previous forecast. It also expects China to become its fifth largest market in next five to six years, Xinhua News Agency reported today.

Ferrari sold a total of 6,400 vehicles worldwide last year, up 14 percent year-on-year, according to official sales reports. Sales in the Asia Pacific and the Middle East jumped by 50% and 32% respectively last year.

According to Andrea Ferrari, the automaker's marketing manager, the company expected to sell 150 units in Chinese market in 2007 and 190 units in 2008. He announced the forecast at a press conference last October.

Thanks to a surging demand for luxury vehicles, China has become Ferrari's fastest growing market since the brand came to this market in 2004. The company now operates 12 dealer stores in 10 cities across the country.

Also, recent sales reports show annual sales of Rolls-Royce cars in China topped 1,000 for the first time last year.
