LEXUS to be made in China

Recently, the president of Toyota (China) Ji Kuangzhi said that once LEXUS reached sales target in China within its schedule, it can be put into production within a few months in Guangzhou Toyota production base. However, he did not disclose the sales target. In 2006, four new models of LEXUS were launched in China market: RX350, ES350, IS300 and the lengthened LS460L.

In 2006, the total sales growth of Toyota vehicles in the Chinese market increase 68% year-on-year. In 2007, the tenth-generation Corolla will be launched into China market and Guangzhou Toyota Camry will expand its production. If LEXUS can be made in China successfully, then Toyota will come closer to its 10% China market share target.
