FAW Group sold 166,518 vehicles in January, up 46.9 percent Y/Y

Shanghai. February 19 (Gasgoo.com) – China’s second largest auto group, the First Automotive Works sold a total of 166,518 vehicles in January, up 46.9 percent from one year earlier, local broadcaster Jinlin People Radio station reported today.
 
In the first month of this year, FAW group sold 146,294 sedans, up 58.3 percent from one year earlier. The auto Group also sold 11,263 medium and heavy duty trucks, up 11.6 percent year-on-year.
 
FAW-VW, a joint venture under FAW, sold 65,709 vehicles in the first month, up 104.8 percent year-on-year.
 
FAW Group has sold 1.43 million vehicles in 2007, up 23.2 percent from one year earlier. In 2007, FAW Group sold 1.19 million units of sedans, up 23.1 percent from one year earlier; the auto group also sold 155,000 middle and heavy duty trucks, up 26.6 percent and 77,000 light trucks, up 18.4 percent.
 
Under the FAW Group, Tianjin-FAW-Xiali sold 1.19 million vehicles; FAW-Haima sold 131,000 vehicles in 2007, up 63.3 percent from one year earlier.
 
In 2007, the FAW Group sold 620,000 local brand vehicles, up 12.8 percent from one year earlier, of which 28,800 vehicles were exported overseas, up 44 percent from one year earlier.
 
FAW-VW sold 461,369 vehicles in 2007, up 33.6 percent from one year earlier, of which VW brand sold 366,000 vehicles, up 38.7 percent from one year earlier and Audi brand sold 92,000 vehicles, up 19.4 percent.
 
FAW-Toyota sold 287,259 vehicles in 2007, up 28.2 percent from one year earlier. FAW Group also sold 54,000 Mazda 6 vehicles, up 17.3 percent.
