Shanghai. February 20 (Gasgoo.com) – As of March 1, the city government of Beijing will ban the sale of new cars that cannot meet China's National IV emission standards, which is equivalent to Euro IV. In Beijing, there are currently about 20 models that fail to meet these standards.

This ban will not affect the vehicles that are now being used in the city.

Meanwhile, the city also requires all the heavy vehicles used for public transit, sanitation, and mail services to meet the new standards as of July 1, 2008.
