Shanghai. February 29 (Gasgoo.com) - Germany automaker Daimler-Benz AG announced yesterday to recall 222 imported Sprinter vehicles to fix an interior bulb that could lead to fire. The recall will be effective starting March 3.

In a filing to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the automaker said the interior bulb of the affected vehicles may cause distortion of the lampshade or even catch fire in a high-temperature environment.

The recall covers Benz Sprinter 313CDI, 316CDI, 416CDI and 314, manufactured between January 30, 2001 and October 7, 2006.

In a separate report, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co said on Thursday it would recall 565 units of Ford S-MAX due to the quality problem of the back window defroster.

Affected Ford S-MAX vehicles were manufactured between October 10, 2007 and February 1, 2008. So far no accident has been reported. Recall of Ford S-MAX is to begin on March 1.
