Ghosn: Renault to enter China in right timing
After holding the Renault-Nissan board meeting in Guangzhou, Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn told the media yesterday that discussions on Dongfeng-Renault alliance are still underway, and they will announce their cooperative plan in due time.
It's the first time the quadrennial Renault-Nissan board meeting held in China. Renault-Nissan ranked fourth in terms of vehicle sales globally, with a volume of 5,911,171,000 units in 2006. Nissan Motors Co. has cooperated with Dong Feng Motor Corporation (DFM) and established Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd (DFL) in 2003, which is the largest joint venture currently in China.
Regarding the matter of the location of Dongfeng –Renault, Ghosn said frankly:" We certainly have our preference when choosing a location. Guangzhou is the R&D center of Nissan, and transportations here are very convenient. Besides, local government has been giving us strong support."
Ghosn also unveiled that Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Company would launched an all-new model based in Guangzhou, which is priced around RMB100, 000 yuan.
