Shanghai. March 18 (Gasgoo.com) – Mazda CX-8 sedan will be imported to Chinese market in June or July. The upscale Mazda sedan will be priced at about RMB 400,000 ($56,338) in Chinese market and will be sold through FAW-Mazda’s sales network, according to a Xinhua News report.

Separately, FAW-Mazda is also planning to introduce a new SUV model CX-to Chinese market 7. The model is powered by 2.3 liter turbo supercharged engine. However, the biggest concern for Mazda is whether or not China has suitable gasoline to fuel the car. The Japanese automaker is considering if they need to equip the car with a different engine.

"Our goal is to sell 100,000 vehicles in Chinese market this year,” said Yu Hongjiang, deputy general manager of the sales unit of FAW-Mazda. “We plan to sell 70,000 Mazda 6 vehicles and 30,000 Mazda 3 hatchbacks, Mazda 5 and Mazda CX-8.”

Currently, Mazda 6 is produced at FAW-Mazda and Mazda 2 and 3 are produced in the Chongqing plant of the Chongqing Ford Mazda.

Last year, FAW-Mazda sold 53,994 locally-made Mazda 6 vehicles while Changan Ford Mazda sold 1,528 Mazda 2 vehicles and 35,844 Mazda 3 vehicles.

The new Mazda 6 will be displayed at the Beijing Auto Show and will be produced at the FAW-Mazda by the end of this year or earlier next year.
