Honda denied Acura will be locally made in China

Shanghai, April 10 (Gasgoo.com) Recently, a financial media article said that Honda planned to produce its top brand Acura locally in China and claimed that the Acura brand will settle down in Dongfeng Honda.

The report said that now Honda's auto parts providers are busily prepared with related auto parts and accessories for Chinese-made Acura. But in fact, according to the present regular procedures of producing the domestic automobiles, at least three years is needed from developing the auto parts to forming the necessary providing capability, then to producing the complete vehicles in the complete automobile factory. Therefore it can be deduced that Acura will not be introduced to China for local production until late 2010.

Zhu Linjie, from Public Relations department of Honda China, noted that Acura couldn't be produced locally in China in the near future. He said that Acura was put into the Chinese market as imported vehicles as recently as 2006, and the present sales volume is very small, so Honda will not consider producing its Acura model locally in China at present.

Honda’s top brand Acura was created in 1986 in the U.S. As the first Japanese luxury brand, Acura pursues dynamism, personality and the "sporty luxury" concept to deliver the top auto brand's uniqu features, which bring the customers a new feeling of value. As soon as it was launched, the brand obtained a huge success in North America's market, and completely changed the competition pattern of the high-quality autos market thereafter. Now the Acura brand boasts various products, including sedans designed, launched and produced in North America, SUV, sports cars and so on. In 2005 the annual sales volume of Acura surpassed 230,000 vehicles.
