From Automotive News China| April 11 , 2008 22:02 BJT

Shaanxi Automobile Group has announced that it has begun building a new truck manufacturing base, reports SinoCast China Business Daily News.

The plant is being built on a 46.67-hectare area of land in Changsha County, Hunan Province, and its construction is expected to take four years. Eventual production is estimated at around 25,000 units annually and is forecast to bring in 5 billion yuan ($715 million) of additional sales each year.

Shaanxi Automobile Group has a joint venture (JV) to build vehicles with Germany's MAN AG, but it will build its self-developed trucks at this facility. Last year the truck-maker built around 67,500 trucks, and this new facility will result in a significant increase in overall capacity to almost 100,000 units a year.
