Top 10 sedan makers in China market by sales in Q1

Shanghai, April 18 (Gasgoo.com) Industry statistics show that the sales of sedans hit 1,374,200 units in the China’s mainland market in the first three months of 2008, up 22.5% year on year (y/y). In the first quarter, a total of 1,851,100 passenger vehicles (including sedans, multi-purpose vehicles, sport utility vehicles and crossovers) were sold in the country, up 20.41% y/y.

In March, 515,800 sedans were sold in mainland China, up 44.41% over the previous month and up 25.97% y/y. The first three best-sellers are Santana (of Shanghai VW), Accord (of Guangzhou Honda), and Jetta (of FAW VW), each of which has sold more than 20,000 units in March.

The top 10 sedan makers in mainland China by sales in the first quarter of this year sold 905,500 sedans, representing 66% of the sedan sales across the country in the three months. The top 10 sedan makers are ranked as follows (in descending order):
