Chery unveils all-new Eastar-6 at Beijing auto show
Shanghai, April 21 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Automobile unveiled the mass-production version of its all-new Eastar (Oriental Son) model -- codenamed B12 -- on April 20 at the 2008 Beijing auto show. The new edition is also called Eastar-6 and will replace the carmaker's current Eastar model in the market.
Up to now, Chery has made only one Eastar model available on the market, but this model's sales have not been ideal, even after the company added a crossover into the Eastar series to boost the market. This means Chery has an uphill battle to fight if this Eastar brand aims to scale the heights of the premium sedan market.
Following the debut of the Chery A6 at the Guangzhou auto show in November 2007, the newly unveiled B12, an all-new Eastar which looks very similar to its predecessor in size, is likely designed to be a model to better Chery A6 as the high-end flagship sedan of the company.
Chery Eastar-6 is powered by 2.0 TDGI or 3.0L V6 engine. This is a high-end and high-quality official vehicle created by Chery with its designing idea of integrating latest eastern and western auto features through five years of development and 500,000 km road test.
