VW unveils all-new Passat CC at Beijing auto show

Shanghai, April 22 (Gasgoo.com) VW has unveiled its all-new Passat CC at the ongoing Beijing auto show. This is the first time the German car maker has intorduced the latest version of its Passat brand into China. The Passat CC boasts special features that mix the sportiness of a coupe and the comfort of a top luxury sedan in one car.

The sporty, 4-door Passat CC unifies the sedan and coupe elements in its design. Apart from the styling differences, the four-door coupe measures 4,799mm in length, 1,855mm in width, and 1,417mm in height, 30mm longer, 36mm wider and 52mm lower than the classic Passat. Inside, the Passat CC gets new sports seats, different instruments and control of the standard climate control system, new steering wheel designs and door trims.

The Passat CC displayed at the Beijing show is a flagship model equipped with the 3.6L V6 FSI engine that produces a peak power of 220kW/6700rpm and its max torque is now 170 Nm/4200 rpm. The Passat CC will be offered with three gasoline units (160 HP 1.8 TSI, 200 HP 2.0 TSI and 300 HP 3.6 FSI) and two diesel engines (140 and 170 HP 2.0 TDi).

The four-door coupe is based on the platform of the standard Passat and offers sleeker styling cues such as a sweeping roof with a very flat curve from the A pillars to beyond the C pillars toward the rear to make it considerably more upmarket and sporty than its sedan sister.

Newly developed for the Passat CC is an electrically actuated Panorama vent sunroof, which can be raised by 30mm. The car's new "adaptive chassis control" system by VW also combines the sportiness of a coupe with the comfort of a top luxury sedan in one car.

FAW-VW, a China venture of German auto giant Volkswagen AG, will start the production of Passat CC in 2010. The new car will become the top-ranking model in the venture's product portfolio.
