Shanghai, April 25 (Gasgoo.com) Chongqing Changan Suzuki Automobile Co presents the Splash car at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show. The model has made its world premiere at 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The joint venture automaker also took this opportunity to make a statement of clarification, saying it has no plan to produce the car in China within the year.

The Splash shares a platform with the Suzuki Swift, is built in Hungary and carries a diesel engine that will be built in India under license from FIAT, citing an Edmunds report.

Suzuki calls the Splash its fourth world car in recent years. Hoping to capitalize on the relative success of the Wagon R, the Splash is a multipurpose vehicle that will likely appeal to those with small families and a limited budget.

That engine is a 1.3-liter common rail diesel; two optional gas engines are also offered: a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine and a 1.2-liter inline-4 engine. It will be likely priced at 50,000 yuan ($7,150) in China.
