Mitsubishi aims to get 10% of China's imported car market

Shanghai, April 29 (Gasgoo.com) Since leaving Daimler-Chrysler Group in 2005, Mitsubishi Motors has gradually perfected and the "Mitsubishi Revival project" is already underway. Iida Kenji, general manager of Auto Business Department of Mitsubishi (Shanghai), recently told Money Weekly that Mitsubishi aims to gain 10% of China's imported car market this year.

Money Weekly (MW): Mitsubishi Auto brought 13 models to this Beijing auto show. What are the features of the models on display?

Iida Kenji: The features are also Mitsubishi automobile's orientation. First, comfort; second, safety and stability; third, environmentally friendly. MW: What about Mitsubishi Motors' strategy position in China?

Iida Kenji:China is the most important market for Mitsubishi Motors. An imported Mitsubishi model will be introduced to China each year from now on. New Chinese-made Mitsubishi models will also be launched.

MW: Would you please introduce the sales volume of the existing imported Mitsubishi vehicle models?

Iida Kenji: At present, Outlander EX is the best selling car in China with about 7,000-8,000 units in 10,000 sold Mitsubishi vehicles last year. And our imported MPV Grandis was sold 3000 units.

MW: Could you talk about the detailed sales target this year?

Iida Kenji: For the imported Mitsubishi vehicles, last year the figure is 1000, while this year the target is 20,000 units. Imported vehicles are 320,000 units among 8,800,000 sold cars in China. 10,000 units are sold by us and we aim to occupy 10% of the imported vehicle market with a target at 20,000 this year.
